Janie's gettin' married!
Looks like we’re in the market for a new tailgating spot – again. Anyone who is going to the Raiders game, if you can do some recon, it would be much appreciated. We won’t make the game, but if you can talk to the attendants at our old lot or scope out possible new ones, it could save mayhem for the season opener.
* Tailgate Heaven is not 100% closed for the season, but only a small section will be open on gamedays.
* Our lot behind Pyramid might not be allowing tailgating following some bad country music fans. Even if they do, there will be hundreds of cars from Tailgate Heaven probably trying to get in there.
* Lots around the stadiums are looking at $50-60 per game, so we might consider moving out a few blocks. One messageboard said there are some lots a few blocks south, near 4th and S. Holbroke. A bit longer walk to the game, but should be a MUCH easier way out of the area afterward. http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCP&cp=47.589827~-122.329073&style=r&lvl=15&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&encType=1

James and Jones
Concerned about the lack of a consistent ground game through the first two preseason games, the Seahawks dumped T.J. Duckett and signed Edgerrin James.
The question is, what does this get the Seahawks?
Duckett was the team’s short-yardage back last season. He helped led the Seahawks in touchdowns as a 252-pound bowling ball. But the team viewed him as a one-trick pony – and an expensive one at that with a $2.5 million salary.
James is the NFL’s 11th all-time leading rusher. And while he no longer has the speed to break home-run plays, he will consistently churn out three to four yards a pop, and runs with a forward lean that should make him a strong short-yardage runner for the ‘Hawks.
The initial plan is for James to play a “complementary” role to Julius Jones. But don’t be surprised if James earns at least 50 percent of the snaps by midseason. He’s familiar with the Seahawks’ new zone-blocking scheme, which is similar to the one he starred in with Indianapolis for years.
Will James’ signing fix all the ails the Hawks’ ground game? Not unless he can also play center and left tackle. But he is an upgrade over Duckett – and he comes as a very small gamble to the front office.
Plus, as a former ‘Cane, he’s one of my all-time favorite UM players. Hey – better him than Warrick Dunn!
